Tending to Your Heart

Spiritual self-care begins with tending to your heart. And, tending to your heart starts with listening. As a Rare mother have a very full life of tending to your child and your family. The reality is that you are the heart of your family and by listening to your own heart, you are tending to your family on a very deep level.
In our Spiritual Self-care Workshop, we focus on tending to ourselves on the inside. Oftentimes, these inner realms get overlooked or bypassed because we have so much to do in our lives.
How much time do you spend taking care of yourself on an average day? When was the last time you had a regular exercise routine, daily meditation or yoga practice or found the time to make your favorite smoothie?
Take Care of Yourself
As a Rare mother, you have a huge responsibility because your child’s life depends on you showing up fully which means you need to show up for yourself.
When you take care of yourself, and tend to your body, mind and soul, you will have more capacity to be present with your child and family.
Here is a Practice to Support You
Doing this practice will help you deepen the intimacy you already have with your own heart or help you begin to open to this relationship. It is useful to do it once a day if possible. You are worth it. It will take only five minutes of your time.
Guidance
Find a quiet where you can focus on yourself. Create a nest so your body feels at ease. Sit in a comfortable chair or lie down on your bed or a sofa.
Set a timer for five minutes and close your eyes. I recommend that you download the Insight Timer app because it has lovely bell sounds to bring you back from your practice.
With closed eyes rest one or both hands on your heart. Feel their weight and temperature. Just notice. There is nothing to do and no right or wrong. .
Feel the sensation of your hand on your heart and listen. See what your heart needs to hear. Maybe what it needs is for you to say, “I love you.“ Perhaps the simple phrase, “I am here“ will do the trick. Trust your experience. The more you listen, the more you cultivate your ability to access your heart. May this practice nourish you.
