Are You Feeling Appreciated?

In our Rare Mothers in Relationships workshop this past week we focused on gratitude. When you take the time to appreciate one another in a relationship, goodness grows. Whether you are in a primary relationship or not, you still have lots of relationships in your life. Relating is a high art which takes intention and practice.

If you focus on what is working, it blossoms. Maybe you have a partner or an elder who is a great cook and loves to make dinner every night.  When someone in your world does something for you every day, it's easy to take it for granted. The fact that someone cooks, cleans or shops for you means you as a Rare Mother can tend to something else. Maybe this gives you the opportunity to be with your Rare child or to simply take a breather. Appreciating the people in your life who are on your team is important. Humans flower when you show your appreciation.

Sometimes what happens is that we "spend" our appreciation at work. One Rare Mother spoke about how she is incredibly kind and appreciative of her co-workers because they don't have to be there. They can leave. Well, your partner, friends or people on your team can also leave. Doesn't it make sense to treat the people in your inner circle with the same level of respect and appreciation as the people you work with? Tend to your relationships and people will stick around.
