Opening the Pathway to Love
"May your prayer of listening deepen enough to hear in the depths the laughter of God." - John O'Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us
Spiritual self-care begins with listening. In the sacred space when we experience the Love in our own hearts that we may feel something similar to the reverence we feel in an enchanted forest that stands mystically shining in the sun. We are much more likely to discover love when we intentionally choose to walk down the enchanted path and listen.
As a Rare mother, it can be hard to make space or to prioritize yourself enough to find the time to listen in this way. Your priority is your family and your child.
Your health and well-being are also a priority.
YOU MATTER. YOUR BODY MATTERS.
This is what our Spiritual Self-Care Workshop is for. We spend time in our workshop reflecting on what it means to listen to the heart rather than to be held captive by the thoughts of the mind. The mind creates separation while the heart invites communion, plus, it's incredibly nourishing to rest in your heart.
One Rare mother in our workshop who has lost three children to a rare disease fills this void and connects to her heart by reading religious texts which she finds highly inspiring. There are many pathways to Love. This is one of them.
Another took the opportunity to spend some time with herself and realized that she has been so focused on caring for her Rare child, that she doesn't even know what she likes anymore. If this is sounding familiar to you, you are not alone.
You are welcome to come to the workshop with your challenges and your inspirations. You will leave feeling nourished and held. You'll also learn tools for spiritual self-care that you can implement right away.
Moving the Body is Medicine
What we bring our attention to comes alive! Here is a tool for you to use to help you come alive and connect to yourself. You may be feeling stuck energy and these feelings can drag you down fast. Movement is a great tool for awakening.
One Rare mother talked about how she used to move her body a lot and has gotten out of the habit. Self-care habits take time and they are high yield. A little goes a long way.
Practices for Moving Your Energy and Feeling Alive!
Here are some things you can add to your day:
* Take a 3-minute movement break, 3 times a day. This can be as simple as standing outside and shaking out your body or a short walk. A few minutes of stretching or yoga is wonderful too. Listen to your body. It knows what it needs.
* Roll your feet with a tennis ball a couple of times a day. We hold a lot in our feet and your body will thank you.
* Stretch your face. Open your mouth as wide as you can and then close it tightly. Stick your tongue out. You may be surprised at the amount of tension you are holding in your jaw. I know I am.
You can improvise. The thing is to move your body a little bit each day. You can add to your practice and it's useful to start small. Small successes are great!
